Craft & Create is a working studio at Folly Farm — home to upholstery and curtain-making, longarm quilting, soap making, and candle making, all under one roof. If you love a proper hands-on craft space, you’ll feel right at home here.

A pillar candle is a different discipline to a container candle. There’s no jar to hold its shape — the wax has to hold its own, which means a different kind of wax, a slower process, and much more attention to temperature and timing.

Over 2 hours, you’ll work through three techniques, each teaching a different skill. You’ll have our full Signature Fragrance Collection to choose from for scent, alongside whatever seasonal fragrances are running at the time — from spring and summer scents through to our warmer autumn/winter blends.

What You’ll Make

The Ombré Bubble — a textured, bubble-moulded pillar built up in graduated colour, light to deep. You’ll learn the timing and temperature control that makes a clean transition rather than a muddy one.

The Tipped Candle — a flower or Christmas tree pillar, poured in two stages. The result is a candle with crisp white tips and colour showing through beneath — a snow-dusted flower, or a frosted Christmas tree.

The Seasonal Pillar — a single-colour candle, finished simply with a tied embellishment suited to the time of year. The most straightforward of the three to make, and often the one people end up loving most.

All three candles stay at the studio to set undisturbed. We unmould, package and post them out to you within two days of the class.

Step into the world of traditional artisan soap making with our beginner-friendly cold process class. This hands-on workshop guides you through the art of blending, colouring and pouring beautiful natural botanical soap — no experience necessary.

Everything’s prepared in advance so you can focus purely on the making. Enjoy a relaxed, creative atmosphere with lovely pastries, tea and coffee throughout.

What You Will Make

You’ll design and pour two 500g soaps across the session, each with its own character:

A mica soap — coloured and finished with a mica swirl, for a soft, shimmering marbled effect

A clay soap — naturally coloured with clay, encouraged to be decorated with botanicals for a more organic, textured finish

Once cured and cut at home, you’ll have a generous haul of bars from each — every one completely your own. You’ll also take home the recipe for both soaps, so you can carry on making them at home whenever you like.

What You Will Learn

The Chemistry of Soap — understand how oils and alkali solution transform into soap through the saponification process, and learn how to recognise when your batter has reached the perfect trace for pouring.

Creative Blending & Decoration — scent and design your batches using high-quality essential oils, mica and natural clay colour, guided by a teacher with ten years of formulation experience. You’ll try your hand at a mica swirl on one soap, and botanical decoration on the other.

Curing & Finishing — learn the essential aftercare steps to unmould, cut and cure your soap into long-lasting, gentle bars ready to use at home.

Craft & Create: The Piped Footstool Workshop

Welcome to the studio. I am Celal, and I would love to invite you to a hands-on, full-day introduction to the craft of upholstery.

This session is designed specifically for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of furniture making in a relaxed, supportive environment with bottomless cups of tea and coffee provided. Over the course of the day, I will guide you step-by-step through the process of building a beautiful, fully functional, full-size piped footstool that you can proudly display and use in your home.

What You Will Make

You will leave the studio with a complete, professionally finished piped footstool.

We provide the professional handmade wooden frame, high-quality foam, piping cord, legs. and all necessary haberdashery. To ensure your new footstool perfectly matches your home decor, you will need to bring your own upholstery fabric. Once you have secured your booking, we will be in touch with the exact fabric specifications and quantities you will need to purchase and bring with you on the day.

What You Will Learn

Upholstery is a highly rewarding, tactile craft. Under my guidance, you will gain hands-on experience with professional techniques and tools. We will cover:

• Tools of the Trade: Getting comfortable with essential equipment, including staple guns, sewing machines, and upholstery needles.

• Measuring & Cutting: Learning the precise techniques for measuring and cutting your fabric and our foam to ensure a flawless, tailored fit.

• The Art of Piping: A step-by-step guide to creating and attaching custom piping to give your piece that high-end, professional finish.

What You Will Make

By the end of our two days together, you will proudly take home a beautifully crafted, bespoke double headboard.

To ensure you can focus entirely on the art of upholstery and construction, we provide the pre-cut wood and necessary structural materials. You will have the opportunity to choose the style of your piece, ranging from a sleek and simple design, to elegant fluting and borders, or even a luxurious deep-buttoned finish.
