Craft & Create: The Art of Cold Process Soap Making
Welcome to the studio. I am Vedia, and I would love to invite you to a hands-on workshop dedicated to the beautiful, traditional craft of cold process soap making.
Whether you are joining on your own or bringing a friend, this session is perfect for beginners. We will spend a relaxing few hours learning how to make soap completely from scratch using raw, natural ingredients, all while enjoying a lovely selection of pastries, tea, and coffee. I have been teaching the art of soap and candle making at Living Crafts at Hatfield Park for several years, and I am so looking forward to sharing this traditional skill with you.
What You Will Make
Over the course of our 3-4 hour session, you will formulate, blend, and pour your own custom batch of natural cold process soap to take home.
What You Will Learn
Making cold process soap is a delicate balance of art and chemistry. Under my close guidance, you will learn the entire process safely and confidently. We will cover:
Understanding Ingredients: Exploring the different oils, nourishing butters, lye, and natural additives, and learning how each contributes to the lather and hardness of your final bar.
Safety First: Cold process soap making involves a chemical reaction. You will learn the essential safety protocols for handling lye and hot oils to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
The Chemistry of Soap: Mastering the technique of accurately measuring your ingredients, blending them correctly, and learning how to recognise when your soap has reached the perfect "trace" for pouring.
Customisation: How to naturally scent and design your batch using essential oils, natural colours, and botanicals to reflect your personal style.
Curing & Finishing: Soap needs time to breathe. You will leave with all the knowledge you need to properly cut, cure, and store your soap at home before it is ready to use or gift.

Dates & Times: Saturdays at 11:00 am. Please select your preferred date when booking.
Venue: Craft & Create, Unit 8, Folly Farm, Kingsclere Road, Basingstoke, Hants, RG26 5GJ.
Refreshments: Pastries, tea, coffee, and water are provided. Please let us know if you have any food allergies when booking.
Booking Policies & The Fine Print
To keep our small studio running safely and smoothly, please read through our booking policies before securing your spot.
Age Requirements: Due to the use of lye and hot oils, this workshop is exclusively for participants aged 16 and over. If you have questions about a younger participant attending, please email us at hello@craft-create.co.uk before booking.
Arrival: Please aim to arrive about 5 minutes early so you can grab a hot drink, get settled, and put on your safety gear before we begin. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we will have to start the teaching without you to respect the time of the other participants, and your spot will be considered redeemed.
Minimum Numbers: This workshop requires a minimum of 4 people to go ahead. In the rare event we do not reach that number, we will contact you at least 10 days prior to your class to rearrange a date that suits everyone. If an alternative date cannot be offered, you will receive a full refund.
Cancellations & Rescheduling: If you need to change or cancel your date, please give us at least 10 days' notice so we have time to fill your seat. Without 10 days' notice, or in the event of a no-show, the full workshop fee will be charged as the ingredients and space have already been allocated.
Payment: All bookings must be paid in full upfront to secure your reservation.

Private Workshops: We run private soap making workshops for groups of 4 or more, perfect for creative get-togethers. Please email us at hello@craft-create.co.uk to request a private booking.
Gift Vouchers: We offer both digital and physical gift vouchers (please select your preference at checkout). They are valid for exactly 1 year from the date of purchase and can be used for any workshop run directly by Craft & Create. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.
