What We Offer

Our longarm quilting service is run by Umi from Unit Folly Farm, Basingstoke: Hampshire using an APQS machine with Intelliquilter technology. Whether you’re looking for a classic edge-to-edge finish or something more intricate and personal, Umi will work with you to find the right design for your quilt.

With a pattern library of over 400 designs, she can accommodate everything from simple, clean geometrics to detailed florals and novelty patterns. Quilts up to 12 feet wide are welcome.

  • Quilts requiring complex patterns — including stitch in the ditch, appliqué work, block and border placement, or bespoke design — are priced by consultation. Please get in touch to discuss your project.

How it works

We ask all new customers to book a short consultation with Umi before dropping off their quilt. This gives you a chance to look at your quilt top together, talk through pattern options, and make sure we achieve exactly the finish you’re hoping for. Consultations are free and carry no obligation.

Drop-off and collection is at Folly Farm by appointment. If you’re not local, we’re also happy to accept quilts by post — just contact us first and ensure postage is covered both ways.

Turnaround is typically up to two weeks, though this may vary during busy periods.

Preparing your quilt

A little preparation goes a long way. Before dropping off your quilt, please:

• Square your quilt top as accurately as possible and press it well

• Trim all loose threads from front and back — especially important with lighter fabrics

• Ensure all seams are secure, particularly at the edges

• Backing fabric should be at least 4” larger than your quilt top on all sides

• If supplying your own wadding, it should be at least 2” larger than your quilt top on all sides — unroll it beforehand and allow it to rest rather than washing it.
