Craft & Create: The Piped Footstool Workshop
Welcome to the studio. I am Celal, and I would love to invite you to a hands-on, full-day introduction to the craft of upholstery.
This session is designed specifically for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of furniture making in a relaxed, supportive environment with bottomless cups of tea and coffee provided. Over the course of the day, I will guide you step-by-step through the process of building a beautiful, fully functional, full-size piped footstool that you can proudly display and use in your home.
What You Will Make
You will leave the studio with a complete, professionally finished piped footstool.
We provide the professional handmade wooden frame, high-quality foam, piping cord, legs. and all necessary haberdashery. To ensure your new footstool perfectly matches your home decor, you will need to bring your own upholstery fabric. Once you have secured your booking, we will be in touch with the exact fabric specifications and quantities you will need to purchase and bring with you on the day.
What You Will Learn
Upholstery is a highly rewarding, tactile craft. Under my guidance, you will gain hands-on experience with professional techniques and tools. We will cover:
Tools of the Trade: Getting comfortable with essential equipment, including staple guns, sewing machines, and upholstery needles.
Measuring & Cutting: Learning the precise techniques for measuring and cutting your fabric and our foam to ensure a flawless, tailored fit.
The Art of Piping: A step-by-step guide to creating and attaching custom piping to give your piece that high-end, professional finish.
Upholstery Basics: Mastering the core techniques of stretching fabric, stapling correctly, and assembling your footstool components securely.
Finishing Touches: The final steps to ensure your footstool looks perfect and is ready for everyday use.
The Details
Time: 10:00 am - 5:30pm. Please select your preferred date from the options available when booking.
Venue: Craft & Create, Unit 8, Folly Farm, Kingsclere Road, Basingstoke, Hants, RG26 5GJ.
Lunch will be for 30 minutes and students will need to bring their own lunch.
Booking Policies & The Fine Print
To keep our small studio running smoothly, please read through our booking policies before securing your spot.
Age Requirements: Our upholstery workshops are designed for adults aged 18 and over. If you would like to inquire about a younger participant attending, please email us at hello@craft-create.co.uk before booking.
Arrival: Please aim to arrive about 5 minutes early so you can get settled before we begin. If you are more than 10 minutes late, the workshop will commence without you to respect the time of the other participants, and your ticket will be considered redeemed.
Minimum Numbers: This workshop requires a minimum of 4 people to go ahead. In the rare event we do not reach that number, we will contact you at least 10 days before your class to rearrange a date that suits everyone. If an alternative date cannot be offered, you will receive a full refund.
Cancellations & Rescheduling: If you need to change or cancel your date, please give us at least 10 days' notice so we have time to fill your seat. Without 10 days' notice, or in the event of a no-show, the full workshop fee will be charged as the materials and space have already been allocated.
Payment: All bookings must be paid in full upfront to secure your reservation and allow us to prepare your materials.
Private Events & Gift Vouchers
* Private Workshops: We run private upholstery workshops for groups, which are wonderful for special events and creative team building. Bookings start at a minimum of 6 attendees. Please email us at hello@craft-create.co.uk to request a private date.
Gift Vouchers: We offer both digital and physical gift vouchers (please select your preference at checkout). They are valid for exactly 1 year from the date of purchase and can be used for any workshop run directly by us. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.
