The Revival Monthly Upholstery Workshop
BoomBring it back to life.
There’s something deeply satisfying about rescuing a piece of furniture that others might have given up on. The Revival is a monthly upholstery workshop for people who want to restore, reupholster, and revive their own furniture — at a relaxed pace, in good company, with a professional upholsterer by their side the whole time.
Each session runs for four hours and takes no more than a small group, so you’ll never feel rushed or lost. You bring the piece. We provide the expertise, the tools, and everything you need to make real, lasting progress.
How It Works
This isn’t a structured class with a set project — it’s a guided workshop where everyone works on their own piece, at their own pace. Think of it as having a skilled upholsterer in the room with you, ready to step in, advise, and show you exactly what to do whenever you need it. Between sessions, the group naturally shares tips, techniques, and the occasional discovery — it’s one of the best parts.
Each month you’ll leave with visible, tangible progress on your piece and the skills to keep going at home.
What to Bring
Bring the piece of furniture you’d like to restore. If you’re new, we’d recommend starting with something manageable — a footstool, a drop-in dining seat, or a small armchair are all ideal first projects. More ambitious pieces are absolutely welcome as your confidence grows.
Not sure if your piece is suitable? Send us a photo before booking and we’ll let you know. We’d rather have that conversation upfront than have you arrive with something that isn’t quite right for the group format — large structural rebuilds or pieces needing significant woodwork repair are best tackled in a dedicated one-to-one setting.
What’s Included
All tools and workshop equipment are provided. A curated selection of materials — including tacks, webbing, and wadding — are available on the day. You’ll only need to source your own top fabric if your project requires it, and we’re happy to advise on this before you arrive.
Who It’s For
Complete beginners are very welcome. If you’ve never picked up a tack hammer in your life, this is a brilliant place to start — just bring a forgiving first project and an open mind.
Intermediate restorers — if you’ve had a go at home and hit a wall with deep buttoning, respringing, or getting your fabric cuts right, this is exactly the kind of session where those problems get solved.
The one thing all our attendees have in common is that they’ve got a piece worth saving. If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
