The fragrance
The Shoreline is the memory of a particular kind of day — grey-blue light, a cool wind off the water, the quiet after the crowds have gone. Not a holiday beach. A working coast.
It opens clean and mineral. Sea salt and cold air, bright and bracing, with that faint sharpness you get standing where the land runs out. There’s nothing sweet in it — no sun cream, no piña colada. Just salt and space and the smell of weather coming in.
Then the cedar settles underneath. Dry, woody, a little resinous — the warmth of driftwood that’s spent years in the sun and the tide. It gives the salt something to hold onto, and stops the whole thing from feeling cold.
And beneath it all, a soft musk — barely there, skin-warm, the part that lingers after the brightness has lifted. It’s what makes the candle feel calm rather than sharp, and what keeps it on the air long after the flame is out.
The Shoreline is our summer candle. Poured for the season and gone with it.
Made at Craft & Create
This one took its time to get right. A coastal scent is easy to overdo — too sweet, too synthetic, too obviously “beach.” We wanted the restraint of a real shoreline, which meant pulling everything back until only what mattered was left.
The salt sits up top, the cedar grounds it, and the musk holds it all together at the base. Each was chosen for the others, not for itself — take one away and the balance goes. Blended and poured by hand at our studio at Folly Farm, and tested across every stage of the burn: cold throw, hot throw, melt pool, scent through the room. Original, and made nowhere else. The result of ten years of fragrance work and a fair bit of patience.
The wax
The same European plant-based wax we use across the range — rapeseed and coconut — which suits a fresher, lighter scent like this one especially well. It carries the bright top notes without flattening them, burns slowly and evenly, and releases the fragrance gradually rather than all at once.
Sustainably sourced. Free from paraffin, palm, soy, and synthetic fillers. A clean, even burn from first light to last.
The vessel
The amber apothecary jar keeps the scent true between burns, shielding the fragrance from the light that would otherwise dull it over a summer. It’s a solid, simple thing — and once the wax is gone, the glass earns its place on a shelf for whatever comes next.
