The fragrance
The Vestry is not a candle for bright mornings or open windows. It belongs to a different kind of moment — the low light of late evening, a room that has been lived in, the kind of quiet that has weight to it.
It opens with something immediately arresting. Bright citrus — lemon, lime, a flash of mint — cutting through what follows like light under a door. Rich cologne, vintage and warm. Then the tobacco arrives: sweet and smoky, not harsh, layered with clove and jasmine and the earthy warmth of vetiver. Complex and deeply masculine without being one-dimensional. The kind of fragrance that makes a room feel like somewhere worth staying.
The heart deepens. Sacred frankincense — resinous, ancient, a fragrance used for millennia in stillrooms and places of contemplation. Cedar and amber beneath it, adding warmth and complexity. Myrrh threading through the base. There is something almost ceremonial about this part of the blend, something that asks you to slow down and pay attention.
And then, barely visible, the secret: a hypnotic amber, Indonesian patchouli, the deep earthiness of sandalwood and benzoin. The thing that grounds the entire fragrance, gives it its darkness, and makes it linger in the room long after the flame is out.
The Vestry is a candle for people who don’t need things to be easy or obvious.

Dark fragrances are unforgiving. There is nowhere to hide when the notes are this rich — every element either earns its place or unbalances the whole.
The Vestry took time to get right. The tobacco and frankincense could easily overwhelm. The patchouli and amber could pull it too far into the familiar, the clichéd. The decision of how much of each element, and in what order to layer them, is the formulation work — invisible to the person burning the candle, but present in every burn.
Blended entirely in house at our studio at Folly Farm. Burn-tested at every stage. An original composition that doesn’t reference any other fragrance — built from scratch, from first principles, with a long process of formulation behind it.
The wax
A European plant-based wax — rapeseed and coconut — that holds heavy, resinous fragrances without letting them become cloying. The tobacco and frankincense in The Vestry are bold notes that lesser waxes can struggle to carry cleanly. This wax distributes them evenly across the burn, ensuring the full complexity of the blend surfaces gradually rather than all at once.
Sustainably sourced. No paraffin, no palm, no synthetic fillers. A clean, even burn from first light to last.
The vessel
Dark fragrances deserve dark glass. The amber apothecary jar deepens the visual character of The Vestry before it’s even lit — the vessel and the fragrance share the same aesthetic register. A dispensary jar, historically associated with things kept and protected. Something you don’t throw away.
