Relaxation

The fragrance

The Slow Hour is not a candle you light for company. It’s the one you reach for when everyone has gone, when the day is finally done, and the only thing left to do is nothing.

It opens with French lavender — true lavender, the kind that carries the cool herbal quality of the fields rather than the sweet, artificial version. Bright at first, with a faint green edge, a whisper of bergamot. Clean and familiar, but not simple.

Then the warmth arrives. Rich, creamy sandalwood building slowly beneath the lavender — earthy and woody, a little resinous, with a depth that the lavender alone couldn’t hold. The two work together in a way that feels inevitable: one bright, one grounded; one lifting, one stilling. Between them, the room settles.

And then, barely there, the secret. A breath of magnolia and honeyed jasmine at the base — gardenia, tuberose, a trace of peach. Soft and almost invisible, it’s the thing that stops The Slow Hour from being just another lavender candle and makes it something worth returning to. A warmth that lingers long after the flame is out.

This is a fragrance for the end of the day. For the hour you give back to yourself.

Made at Craft & Create

Restraint is harder than complexity. Anyone can add more. The skill is in knowing what to hold back.

The Slow Hour is built around stillness — a fragrance that doesn’t compete for your attention but earns it gradually. The lavender is the obvious note, the one people reach for when they want to relax. But the decision of what to put beneath it, and how much, is where the formulation work really lives. Too much sandalwood and it becomes heavy. Too little and the lavender floats without anchor. The jasmine and magnolia are barely perceptible — but without them, the blend has no warmth at its heart.

A long process of formulation. Every decision tested, adjusted, and tested again. Blended entirely in house at our studio at Folly Farm. The Slow Hour took time to get right — which, given what it’s for, feels entirely appropriate.

The wax

A European plant-based wax — rapeseed and coconut — chosen for its burn as much as its credentials. It holds fragrance with a consistency that allows the layers of The Slow Hour to reveal themselves properly. The lavender first, then the sandalwood rising as the wax pools, then the warmth of the floral base note in the final hours of the burn.

No paraffin, no palm, no synthetic fillers. Just a clean, slow, even burn that lets the fragrance do what it was designed to do.

The vessel

The amber apothecary jar has been used in dispensaries and stillrooms for centuries — a vessel associated with careful preparation, with things made slowly and with intention. It protects the fragrance from light, preserves the scent between burns, and sits on a shelf with the quiet authority of something that belongs there permanently.
